Description
Nickel (II) nitrate is a strong oxidizing agent and is basically present in various hydrate forms. The hexahydrate (6H2O) and the anhydrate (in each case as solids) are customary. It is basically hygrospcopic and very soluble in water.
It forms green (to blue-green), deliquescent crystals.
Typical applications are:
- Production of pure catalyst nickel,
- Electrolytic nickel plating,
- Recovering nickel (II) oxide,
- Dyeing as a pickling agent and
- Ceramic industry (as a brown pigment).
The preparation is carried out either by dissolving pure nickel or nickel oxide with nitric acid.

Storage
Store dry and well ventilated! Keep the temperature below 35°C.
Shelf life in sealed original packaging up to 2 years from production date.
Availability
Usually in the short term within 1-2 weeks.
