Iron(III)-nitrate
Fe(NO3)3 9H2O
Quality
We supply iron nitrate, or ferric nitrate as nonahydrate with an iron content of approx. 13.82% and an Fe(NO3)3 content of approx. 98%.
Customized special qualities are available.
Description
Traditionally, iron nitrate has been used for tanning leather, but also for pickling cotton, as well as for dyeing silk.
Today it is more applications in the field of:
- Treatment / coating of (metallic) surfaces
- Preparation of catalysts
- Water treatment (corrosion inhibitors, for example, to reduce the concentration of hydrogen sulfide in certain wastewater pipes)
- Waste water treatment (e.g., pH regulation, flocculants, precipitants, neutralization)
- Intermediates (e.g., preparation of Fe2O3 color pigments)
Iron nitrate is rather violet as a crystalline product. It is soluble in water, alcohol and acetone. The melting point is 47°C. The crystals are therefore often a little deliquescent.
Packaging
- PP / PE bags of 25kg each
