Manganese dioxide, EMD
MnO2
Quality
Electrolytic manganese dioxide (EMD) is available in different qualities, with approx. 90% MnO2 and a D50 of approx. 25-45µm.
Description
In contrast to natural manganese ore and CMD (Chemical Manganese Dioxide), EMD (Electrolytic Manganese Dioxide) consists of MnO2 produced by electrolysis. With its crystalline structure, manganese dioxide obtained from this offers the best possible quality for so-called primary batteries or dry cell batteries. (E.g. alkaline batteries.)
The black powder is practically insoluble in water, and there is virtually no reaction even with cold sulfuric or nitric acid.
In drinking and mineral water treatment, manganese dioxide is listed in the list of treatment substances and disinfection methods in accordance with Section 11 of the Drinking Water Ordinance (DIN EN 13752, manganese removal, iron removal).
Packaging
In diverse angloamerican packing units depending on the quality, also partly in kg in bags, cardboard drums and big bags.
